SI Data Sheet
A working reference chamber for measurement, dimensional analysis, and physical constants. Convert units, trace derived quantities back to SI foundations, and copy trusted constants for use across science coursework.
Universal Unit Converter
Choose a measurement family, then type into either side. The conversion updates immediately and uses a normalized base quantity internally.
Units & Prefixes
The seven SI base units define the system. Named derived units are combinations of those base units, while prefixes scale units by exact powers of ten.
| Quantity | SI Unit | Symbol | Dimension | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Length | metre / meter | m | L | distance, wavelength, position, dimensions |
| Mass | kilogram | kg | M | mass, inertia, density calculations |
| Time | second | s | T | duration, period, reaction or decay time |
| Electric current | ampere | A | I | charge flow in electrical systems |
| Thermodynamic temperature | kelvin | K | Θ | absolute temperature and thermodynamics |
| Amount of substance | mole | mol | N | chemical amount, stoichiometry, concentration |
| Luminous intensity | candela | cd | J | visible-light intensity in a direction |
| Quantity | Named unit | Symbol | In base units | Common context |
|---|
Current SI prefixes extend from quetta (10³⁰) to quecto (10⁻³⁰). Prefix symbols are case-sensitive: M is mega, while m is milli.
What the Units Are For
Use the unit itself as a clue to the physical idea being measured. These groups connect classroom formulas to the quantities behind them.

Read the unit like an equation
Breaking a derived unit into SI base units is a fast way to test whether an equation can be dimensionally consistent.
Constants Registry
Search by name or symbol. Copying a value places the raw numeric form on your clipboard so it can be pasted directly into the scientific calculator.
| Constant | Symbol | Value | SI unit | Uncertainty |
|---|
Reference values use the 2022 CODATA adjustment from NIST. Constants marked “exact” are exact in the modern SI definition.
